In the east of Mallorca, above the town of Felanitx, a narrow road climbs to the sanctuary of Sant Salvador, perched on a hilltop with views across the whole of the south-east of the island. It is short, steep and a regular stop for riders based in the east. On a clear day you can see across the plain to the sea and the island of Cabrera.
The climb is 7.1 km long and climbs 374 m, at an average of more than 5%. It starts at 106 m and ends at 478 m, with the gradient climbing steadily all the way. There are hairpins near the top, and very little relief anywhere on the road.
Atlas rates it hard. At around half an hour for most riders, it is a perfect length for a threshold effort, and a good test for anyone preparing for a hilly sportive or a Mallorca training camp. There is nowhere on this road to hide, and nowhere to recover.
In Atlas Indoor you ride the real road in 3D, with your smart trainer following the gradient through every hairpin. Use it as an interval, repeat it for a full climbing session, or race the ghost of your best attempt.
How to ride Sant Salvador climb indoors
Warm up well before you start; there is no easy section to ease in on. Ride the climb at a strong, steady power, and stay seated through the hairpins to save your legs. If you can, lift your effort for the last kilometre.
