Coll de sa Batalla is the climb almost every Mallorca training camp rides at some point. It starts in the village of Caimari, at the foot of the Tramuntana, and winds up through olive groves and holm oak forest to a col with a famous café stop at the top.

It is 8.3 km long and climbs 415 m, averaging about 5% almost from start to finish. The first 6 km are the main climb. After a brief easing, the road climbs again for the last 2 km to the top at 578 m. There are hairpins, but no really steep ramps, which makes it a climb you can ride at a steady effort.

That steadiness is why it is such a good training climb. It takes most riders between 30 and 45 minutes, a perfect length for threshold intervals or a sustained sweet-spot effort. Atlas rates it hard: not because any one part is brutal, but because there is nowhere to rest.

In Atlas Indoor you ride the real road, every bend where it is on the mountain, with the gradient sent to your trainer. Ride it as a single test, repeat it as intervals, or race the ghost of your own best climb.

How to ride Coll de sa Batalla indoors

Settle into a steady rhythm in the first kilometre and hold it. The short easing after 6 km is a chance to sip and reset, not to stop pedalling. Then ride the last 2 km a little harder all the way to the top.

A controllable smart trainer changes resistance with the road's gradient. A power meter or basic Bluetooth trainer also works for a recorded ride. Without either, you can explore the route with demo watts, but demo rides don't count towards results.
