In the middle of the flat Mallorcan plain, one hill stands on its own: Puig de Randa. At the top is the Santuari de Cura, a monastery with views across the whole island, from the Tramuntana in the north to the sea in the south. The climb to it is a favourite with riders based near Palma.

This route climbs the whole way. It starts at 143 m and finishes at the sanctuary, 544 m above sea level, a climb of 413 m over 11 km. The average looks gentle, at under 4%, but the gradient is uneven: easier slopes lower down give way to steeper ramps towards the top, past the village of Randa.

Atlas rates it hard. It is a great climb for practising how to pace a changing gradient: holding back early, then raising your effort as the road gets steeper. The view from the top, across the whole island, is the reward.

In Atlas Indoor you ride the real road in 3D, with your smart trainer following every change in gradient. Ride it as a single long climb, as a progressive effort that builds to the top, or as a test you repeat every few weeks to track your form.

How to ride Randa and Santuari de Cura indoors

Start easy. The lower slopes are gentle, and it's tempting to ride them too hard. Build your effort as the road steepens, and save your best for the final kilometres up to the sanctuary.
