This is the northern way into the Tramuntana. From the plain near Pollença the Ma-10 climbs into the mountains over Coll de Femenia and on towards Lluc, the monastery at the heart of the range. It is a road you will know if you have ever ridden a big loop in the north of the island.
The climbing comes in stages. The first 11 km rise gently at just over 3%, a long, steady drag up the valley. Then the road steepens to around 5% for almost 3 km over the col, before a final shorter rise towards the end. In total you climb 563 m in 19.6 km and reach 562 m.
That shape makes it an excellent tempo ride. You can sit at a solid effort for the long first section, then lift your power for the steeper part without ever going into the red. It is moderate on paper and honest in practice.
In Atlas Indoor you ride the real Ma-10 in 3D, with the gradient sent to your trainer. Use it as a long tempo block, a progressive climb that gets harder as you go, or a rehearsal for the big northern loops of a Mallorca trip.
How to ride Coll de Femenia and Lluc indoors
Ride the long first section at tempo, not threshold. When the gradient lifts after 11 km, raise your power a step and hold it over the col. Save a little for the last rise near the end, then ride it out smoothly.

How long does Coll de Femenia and Lluc take to ride indoors?
About 1 h 10 min at 150 W, 1 h 00 min at 200 W, 50 min at 250 W. Estimates assume steady power and a 75 kg rider on an 8 kg bike, using the same physics as the ride itself.
How hard is Coll de Femenia and Lluc?
Atlas rates it moderate: 19.6 km with 563 m of climbing, an average climbing gradient of 3.7% and a steepest kilometre of about 6.9%.
Do I need a smart trainer?
A controllable smart trainer changes resistance with the road's gradient. A power meter or basic Bluetooth trainer also works for a recorded ride. Without either, you can explore the route with demo watts, but demo rides don't count towards results.
